Fruit feast day 21

I’ve got the blues but I ain’t sad.

I made a blueberry coconut water smoothie and a bowl of blueberries to snack on. Ok the smoothie was bad, the berries turned to a thick mush and the flavor didn’t mesh with the coconut water. I couldn’t drink it. My first mind told me to use bananas, so I’m going to have to go back to the drawing board in that.

I ate the cherimoya in place of the smoothie and shared some with my coworkers. It was a hit!

My papaya wasn’t ripe and the blueberries I bought to snack on were dry. Ugh, I got a whole case of blueberries too. I have to figure out what to do with them. I’ll try putting bananas into the smoothie and freeze the rest.

They say a hard head makes a soft rear. In my case it makes an empty wallet. I told myself after my last berry fiasco (read) that I wasn’t going to buy conventional berries anymore, but a case of 12 pints of blueberries for $7.99, I couldn’t pass it up. I don’t like wasting food so maybe I’ll make some vegan blueberry muffins for my coworkers.

Today the unthinkable happened…

I got a bad durian. I’ve been waiting all day to enjoy this. It’s the biggest most expensive one I’ve purchased to date and it was watery and bland. They say each pod tastes different so If you get a bad section, try another one. Each section got worse and the pods were huge which added insult to injury.

For the sake of what I spent on it I tried to eat it but I couldn’t force down another bland, tasteless watery bite. The last durian I had I wanted to cry because it was so good, now I want to cry because it is so bad.

Damn!

Fruitarians I follow on YouTube that love durian say every now and then you get a bad one. Why did it have to be today when all the rest of my fruit was bad! Durian usually makes everything better.

I’m going to give it one last try for today cantaloupe, passion fruit and a baby banana (I’ve never had one before). If this doesn’t work, I’m done for the day. There is always tomorrow.
